Bold Love

Pastor Matt teaches that our identity begins with knowing we are loved by Jesus. Because God is love (1 John 4:16) and gave His Son (John 3:16), believers are called to reflect that generous love. Acts 4:32–35 shows the early church sharing freely so no one lacked anything. Pastor Matt challenges Kingsway to embody that same radical generosity through open-handed giving and caring for one another.

Sermon Notes

If you had to use one word to describe God, what one word would you pick?

“God is love.” – The Apostle John in 1 John 4:16

John 13:23 NIV

One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him.

Imagine your entire identity being shaped by this truth: I am the One whom Jesus loves.

John 3:16 NIV

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Our Father in Heaven loves so much that He constantly “gives”.

Acts 17:24-25 NIV

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.

James 1:17 NIV

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

His character is that He is constantly and consistently a loving and giving God. That will never change!

1 John 4:17 NIV

This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus.

Our Mission Statement: To Become More Like Jesus

To become more like Jesus, we must become generous like God.

Acts 4:32 NIV

All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.

The church is healthiest when every member sees themselves as part of the solution.

What about people taking advantage of others?

Ephesians 4:28 NIV

Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.

Mutual generosity and personal responsibility are expected by God of His Church.

1 Timothy 5:16 NIV

If any woman who is a believer has widows in her care, she should continue to help them and not let the church be burdened with them, so that the church can help those widows who are really in need.

Acts 4:33a NIV

With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.

Acts 4:33b-34 NIV

And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales …

Acts 4:35 NIV

and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.
