As we wrap up another week with sobering data projections and stay-at-home extensions that not only disrupt our routines but cause deeper anxiety and stress for many, we continue to see glimmers of light and hope.
The response we have seen from you, those who call Kingsway home, has been truly amazing. It has been about a week since we released our serve opportunities related to our We Are the Church initiative. We have had close to 40 of you volunteer to make over 170 Community Connection calls. These are calls being made to those who may be isolated or just those who need an encouraging word. It has been received so well by both the ones being called and those making the calls, we are working to expand our list! If you are interested in supporting this, you can let us know here.
We have had many others offer their help to work with the Towns of Avon and Plainfield to deliver groceries and pharmaceuticals, to sew CDC compliant face masks, and to provide meals for our local outreach partners. Through your generosity and your prayers, we are continuing to find ways to love and serve our community during this health crisis.
Brett was able to share in a Facebook Live video earlier this week that we are finalizing the details on hosting a blood drive here on the Kingsway Campus in late April. This is a powerful way we can be a part of the solution for our community in a time when we are facing blood shortages. As the details solidify, we will keep our page, kingswaychurch.org/we-are-the-church updated including how you can sign up for this and future opportunities!
As we move into Easter week, there is much to be hopeful for. Easter is coming; Jesus has risen; and we will celebrate that as a church family on Sunday, April 12. This is a great time to invite those you know, maybe even some you don’t know to check us out and why God is the only answer. John 1:5 - the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Please join us this week as we share a special Maundy Thursday devotional on Thursday, April 9 on our Kingsway Facebook Page at 7 pm. Then the following evening, we have a powerful Good Friday Service planned at 6:30 pm; simply visit kingswaychurch.org and click “Watch Service”.
Easter Sunday will be an encouraging, family-friendly service that we encourage you to invite friends, family, and even neighbors to watch at either 9:15 or 11 AM on April 12. We look forward to seeing the pictures of you and your family celebrating the resurrection! Tag us in your social media posts #WeAreTheChurch #WeAreInThisTogether #Kingsway
As you take time in the coming days and weeks to pray, to ask for peace, wisdom, and health – please know we are praying right there with you. Although we are apart for a while longer, keeping our building closed and worshipping and meeting virtually, our love and prayers for you and our community are stronger than ever. Our Church is open; Kingsway staff is still here – a phone call or email away.
If you have not joined us yet, you are invited to our daily prayer time, hosted by Pastor Matt or Andy live from our Kingsway Facebook page. Hosted Monday – Saturday at noon. Give it a try! We would love to “see” you and pray with you.
Have a blessed week,
Kingsway Christian Church
