Why It All Hinges On One Morning

What can God do with one ordinary, faithful life? Guest speaker Kevin Russell tells the story of Lori Majors, Zig Ziglar’s quiet and faithful assistant. He pairs it with the story of Tabitha in Acts 9 to show that Jesus can use everyday people to change many lives. Walking through the book of Acts, Kevin names four strongholds that keep the church from reaching people far from God: lukewarmness, unbelief, fear, and a divided heart. He invites Kingsway to tear them down by turning back to God, praying boldly, and staying faithful to the mission Jesus gave us.

Sermon Notes

Jesus can use your life to save many lives.

Acts 1:8 NIV

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 4:4 NIV

But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew to about five thousand.

Acts 5:14 NIV

Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number.

Acts 9:36-38 NIV

In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor. About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room. Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, “Please come at once!”

Acts 9:40 NIV

Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter, she sat up.

Acts 9:42 NIV

This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.

Jesus wants many people to believe.

Stronghold of lukewarm

Stronghold of unbelief

Stronghold of fear

Stronghold of a divided heart

Jesus can use your life to save many lives.
