Kingsway family to receive Habitat Home

April 26, 2017 | Gretchen Becker

Kingsway has an opportunity to use their hands and help one of our own members this spring and summer.

Amy Brown and her son Isaac will receive a Habitat for Humanity home this year in Plainfield, and Kingsway volunteers can sign up to help on four different dates online: May 13, May 26, June 22 and July 8.

Each date has different projects based on the home build timeline including framing, siding, interior painting and landscaping. You don't need experience in these areas to help. A Habitat team will guide volunteers throughout the workday, which is 7:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

You can sign up as an individual, or team up with members of your Life Group, other volunteers you serve with or your family. Each person must register and be at least 16 years old.

After registration, you'll receive a confirmation email with all the details and logistics for your volunteer day. Habitat wants signups at least one to two weeks in advance of your volunteer day. During the shift they will provide training, instruction, snacks, pizza for lunch and water.

A little about Amy: You'll recognize her as a member of the worship team as well as a life group leader with 1st-4th grades on Sunday mornings. She works as a social worker and advocates for herself and others focusing on her favorite verse, Proverbs 31:8: Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. NLT

As the recipient of this home, Amy prays the house will continue to help her care for others. Please be praying for Amy and her son as they look forward to being a part of building their new home.
