How do I use the Volunteer Opportunities Finder?

It's simple. You can choose to search by any or all of these methods:

• Type the name of the position for which you're searching in the field at the top of the page
• Check the box next to the department(s) in which you're interested in serving
• Check the boxes next to any abilities you possess
• Check the boxes next to your spiritual gifts

Once you click the "Search" button, we're confident you'll be able to find positions in which you're interested. Once you select a position and click on "apply for this position," you'll be asked to complete a simple form. Once you've submitted the form, the process is well underway.

What happens after I apply online for a volunteer position?

We'll receive your application and forward it on to the appropriate department(s) immediately. You should hear back in no more than ten business days. If, after communicating with the pastor or ministry leader, everyone feels like you're a good fit, you'll be placed on a schedule and you'll receive any information, training or instruction that the volunteer position demands. Once you begin serving, maintain close contact with your ministry leader so all your questions are answered and so you're sure you feel comfortable serving in the area you've selected. We pray you will. If not, talk to your ministry leader and apply for a different position and we'll guide you through the process until you find just the right fit.

How are volunteers scheduled?

Most of Kingsway's volunteer positions are scheduled in every-other-month or every-third-month rotations. We want to honor your desire to serve by having you on the schedule a considerable amount. But, we don't want to be a church that burns out its volunteers. So, we've tried to schedule our volunteer rotations so you can be involved but not abused.

Will I be able to both attend an adult Bible class and serve?

We know that Kingsway people live busy lives so we've tried to create a scenario where you can worship, grow and serve on the weekends without having to choose one over the other. We've structured our volunteer rotations and our adult Bible classes so volunteers can serve on an every-other-month or every-third-month rotation and attend classes during the months in between.

How long am I committing to serve?

Although people can sign up to serve throughout the year, the volunteer calendar begins in September and ends in August. Every July is involvment month at Kingsway. During the month we ask all current volunteers to recommit and we give those who are not yet serving the chance to sign up. The folks who sign up in July are placed in August and they begin serving in September. Although we ask for a year-long commitment, we understand that sometimes changes need to be made: life situations change, work schedules change, and sometimes volunteers pick an area of service that just doesn't work out. It's OK to change. The most important thing to us is that you are serving. We'll help you find the right place.
