Serve StoriesWe hope these stories inspire, motivate and encourage you to find ways to serve at Kingsway. Remember, we're most like Jesus when we serve. After washing his disciples' feet, he tells us, "I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you" (John 13:15). The way "up" to the Father is found by reaching "down," serving others in love. Teenage Servants"Amanda Reed, Danielle Wingfield and Matthew Scott work with our fifth- and sixth-grade students each week as small group leaders in the 10:30 service. We have seen all of these kids grow up before us and, as they have matured, they are now turning around and serving others," said Middle School Pastor Mark Notter. Amanda Reed said at first she didn't know that Middle School Ministry was the right place for her. "I prayed about it, and then somehow the pieces fell into place. After I started, I became comfortable with the students and looked forward to it every week. God has really used what I am good at, interacting with kids and leading, to build relationships with girls that I now love." Danielle Wingfield experienced something similar. "When I was a freshman in high school, I took a spiritual gifts test. I was surprised to find that I had the gift of leadership. So the Notters got me plugged in to Route 56. I was a little unsure of myself at first, but now I love being a small group leader. I love getting to know the girls in and watching them grow. It's an awesome feeling to know that God can use me to influence their lives." Kingsway's Special Needs Ministry is also blessed by some of our high school students. Kelly Carr, director of the Special Needs Ministry, says, "Christina Kilbourn and Kacie Burton are such a blessing to our ministry. They both love the children and are so patient. The kids just love them. When I see them interact with the children I see a genuine passion and desire to serve this community. They are wonderful young ladies." Jen Keener, who has a child in the Special Needs Ministry, says, "Our son Noah fell in love with Christina as did we. She has even become one of our babysitters! Noah made such a big impression on Christina that she has decided to go to Butler and study to teach special needs children. We really feel blessed that God placed her in our lives, but especially Noah's." Serving Behind the Scenes and Around the World"Danny Kindle is as on fire for the Lord today as he was the day he first accepted Christ. He is a likeable guy with excellent leadership skills. I count it a privilege to know him as a friend and as a brother in Christ." (Shawn Tully, Associate Pastor) Although you may not know it, many of you have met Danny Kindle. If you've ever arrived a few minutes late to the 10:30 a.m. worship service, Danny is the friendly face who greets you in the back and offers to find you a seat. He's also a decision counselor, a member of the Missions Council and Missions Involvement Task Force, a VBS volunteer, and was the trip leader for the most recent New Orleans mission trip. What compels Danny to be so involved? He says, "The one thing that all of these ministries have in common is that in one way or another, God is allowing me to take part in the lives of countless people, not just here at Kingsway, but all over the world. It is such an awesome feeling to know that I can make a difference for Christ half-way around the world or right here in Central Indiana." When asked how he knew that these volunteer positions were right for him, Danny replied:
Aside from his many volunteer roles at Kingsway, Danny is an IT network analyst at Monarch Beverage and is currently working toward his bachelor's degree at Indiana Wesleyan University. He and his wife, Jessica, are the proud parents of two children, Garrett, 5, and Jillian, 2. Danny has many hobbies, including camping, fishing and horseback riding, but he enjoys spending time with his family more than anything. When people decide to volunteer at Kingsway, they are taking part in a much bigger effort. An effort that, as Danny said, God can use to "produce immeasurably more than we can through our own attempts." Thank you, Danny, for following allowing God to use you to share a life-changing message with those that are seeking answers. |
