Another Orphan finds a Forever Home

Kingsway has welcomed another adopted child into the family.  Lynn and Brenda Crooks recently traveled to China to adopt a 9 year old girl, Alison.  Alison is one of many children Kingsway members have welcomed into church and forever families.Alison

Kingsway Orphan Ministry is here to help you with the many questions about adoption.  Adoption into a loving Christian family meets all of the child's needs: knowledge of Jesus, unconditional love by earthly parents, care for their physical needs, and a church family to minister to them.

Won't you consider loving just one child?  Read about Lynn and Brenda's trip and see the joy that it brings to both you and the child.  Contact Lynn and Brenda for a personal testimony and to answer your questions.  Call the Kingsway office and ask to be contacted by one of the many adoptive parents.  There is an Alison who needs YOU!

Visit the Children

What do a business manager, a systems analyst, a computer programmer, a grade school teacher, and a college studenLynn with Orphan Childt have in common?  We traveled together to an orphanage in Henan Province, China, just to play with children for a week.

And play we did! We held babies.  We blew bubbles with toddlers.  We played the Hokey-Pokey with pre-schoolers.  We taught English to older children.  We took children on outings.  We even had a July 4th party to give the older children an American experience!

Babies were in rows of cribs with 2 babies in each.  Many looked frail as they laid there quietly.  The caregivers did the best they could, but there were too many children and too few helpers.  One baby boy broke out in loud laughter with every touch or bit of attention.  We tried to love on every one of them-if only a little.

Most of the school aged children, some as old as 17, have lived in the orphanage all their lives.  They live in dormitory-type rooms with bunk beBrenda with Orphan Childrends and no privacy.  Some were aloof to us and some curious.  Many of them wanted to be with us as much as they could.  Most were taking English in school so at least basic communication was possible.  They asked questions about America, family, and life.  Most of them showed a deep hunger to be loved, if only for a few short days.

Upon leaving the orphanage director said we made the children happy.  They made us happy too.  But it saddened us to leave them behind.  It saddened us to know that most of them would never know the unconditional love of a family.

The Bible commands us to visit the orphans.  Our team found that traveling to China is not a difficult experience.  It is a short time when a few children will experience the love of Christ through us.  Won't you visit the children too?

Purpose of Orphan Ministry:

Kingsway Orphan Ministry promotes and supports the adoption of and outreach programs to the orphaned children of the world by offering seminars, Bible studies, information sharing, personal counseling, mission trips and practical help. The primary purpose of the ministry is to place orphaned children into Christian homes where they will know the love of a caring family and Jesus Christ. The Kingsway Orphan Ministry does not serve as an adoption agency but rather a resource to those interested in supporting the spiritual and physical well-being of children.

God's Command
"Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans." (James 1:27a)

God's Heart
"But You, O God ... are the helper of the fatherless." (Psalm 10:14)

Our Inheritance
"His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave Him great pleasure." (Ephesians 1:5)

The Need

Globally there are tens of millions of orphans. One third to one half of those children can be legally adopted. Prostitution, homelessness, incarceration and suicide affect the lives of the vast majority of the children who grow up as orphans and never find permanent, loving homes. For the full and harmonious development of his or her personality, studies show a child should grow up in a family environment - in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding.

How You Can Help

Adopt:

Adoption into a loving, Christian family will give a hopeless child the love and affirmation they may never get any other way.

You can give a child the earthly and heavenly relationship he/she so desperately needs.

Outreach:

Only a few lucky orphans ever find their way into an orphanage. And only a small percentage of those are adopted. You can provide outreach to the children who are not or cannot be adopted and who still need to be cared for, loved and visited.

Outreach might include mission trips; volunteering for orphan-related organizations; donating toward orphanage assistance projects; financially supporting missionaries working with orphans; or sponsoring a child directly.

Support:

Not everyone can adopt. Not everyone can go. But everyone can help support birth, foster and adoptive families in the adoption process.

Supporting these families can include efforts such as financially helping an adoptive family; encouraging mothers to choose adoption over abortion; or using spiritual gifts and job skills to help adoptive parents deal with issues such as children with special needs, bonding, cultural transitions and new parenting skills.
