Meet Real PeopleMeet Barry HolmanOne of our neighbors invited my wife, Sally, to Kingsway. She had been looking for a church for a while. It seemed too big to me, so Sally kept looking. She really enjoyed Kingsway, and because she was the only one of us attending church regularly, she came back. She became a member of Kingsway in 1994. Sally and I agreed before we got married that if we had children, we would raise them in the church. We started considering having children, and it was time for me to make a decision. Sally finally convinced me to come to Kingsway in 1997. I was baptized in 2001. That was very meaningful, but the rubber hit the road a few years later when our son, Tommy, died. Our small group and other friends took on the unpleasant task of planning the funeral services. We will never be able to fully express our gratitude for their time, effort and continued friendship. Kingsway is our family. There are a lot of people here who love the Lord and they express it in their lives, not just with words. We can't tell you the number of times we have been encouraged by simply having someone come up to us and tell us they were still praying for us, some people we don't even know. We can be ourselves and still be accepted and loved. |
