Kingsway has always been blessed by men and women who are committed to serving God. The pastors and support staff serve together to carry out God's mission for Kingsway Christian Church.

John Caldwell

Retired Senior Pastor

John served as Kingsway's senior pastor from June, 1974 to June, 2010. Although officially retired, he continues to be as active in ministry as ever, leading, preaching, teaching and encouraging churches in the United States and abroad. He and his wife, Jan, have two adult children, Shan and Jennifer, and two grandsons, Jack and Will.


Matt Nickoson (ext. 207)

Lead Pastor

Matt joined the Kingsway staff in 2009. He was born and raised in northeast Ohio and attended Cincinnati Bible College. He enjoys running, Ohio State Football, working on projects around the house, spending time with Rachael, playing with Matthias and drinking caffeine (lots of caffeine).


Alan Hughes 272.2227

Kingsway Christian School Administrator

Alan joined the Kingsway staff in 1981. He originally served as children’s minister and school administrator. As the school has grown, his full-time duties have been with the school. Alan is a genuine Hoosier, hailing from Roachdale. He graduated from Milligan College, ISU, and received an Education Specialist degree from Indiana University. Alan loves having his children and grandchildren living in the area. His favorite hobbies are golf, logic puzzles and carving wooden chains.


Jeff Lewellyn (ext. 201)

Executive Pastor

Jeff has been at Kingsway since the early '90s, serving first as the business manager and, for the last several years, as the Executive Pastor. Jeff is an expert administrator who cares deeply for the Church and the men and women who lead in it. Jeff and Gayle have two grown children.


Kevin Carr (ext. 215)

Involvement Pastor

Kevin joined the Kingsway staff as an intern in 2001. Kevin's most important roles are husband and dad. When he's not working, he's spending time with Kelly or wrestling with Owen. He enjoys reading, playing the guitar, bicycling and spending time with friends.


Chris Fowler (ext. 116)

9th- Through 12th-Grade Pastor

Chris joined Kingsway's staff in 2007. He grew up in southern Ohio and he loves dancing, jumping on the trampoline, reading Ted Dekker books and cuddling up with his wife watching movies. Chris also enjoys playing Barbie with his daughters. He has coached track in the past and would like to do it again!


Lisa Johnson (ext. 107)

1st- Through 4th-Grade Pastor

Lisa joined the Kingsway team in 2006. She and her husband, David, are avid cyclists. She spent the summer in Japan in 2006. During her first day in Japan, she decided to take a  jog to check out the city. It turned out to be a three hour search to find her way home. Lisa attended Johnson Bible College and loves to laugh.


Michael Johnson (ext. 106)

Preschool Associate

Michael has been on staff since 1997 and has attended since 1993. He was born and raised in Central Indiana. He has been married to Cathy since 1986 and they have two sons, Todd and Brandon. When not at work, Michael enjoys golf, tennis, disc golf, and any sport that you can shoot, smack, hit, kick or throw a ball!


Lisa Lewis (ext. 208)

Worship Associate

Lisa joined the Kingsway staff in 2001. Her hobbies include gardening, antique collecting and techie gadgets. Her lucky number is 13. She was born on January 13, there are 13 letters in her name and she completed 13 years of piano lessons. She attended Cincinnati Bible College and served on staff there, mentoring and training ministry students, for a number of years.


John Noel (ext. 105)

5th- and 6th-Grade Pastor

John joined the Kingsway team in 1995. He enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies and riding his ATV. He especially loves spending time with his granddaughter. One of John's greatest joys in ministry is working with and mentoring interns. Over two dozen interns have learned from John over the years.


Mark Notter (ext. 112)

7th- and 8th-Grade Pastor

Mark loves having fun with his three daughters, kayaking, biking, skydiving and thinking deeply while reading a great book. Mark attended Kentucky Christian College and Emmanuel School of Religion and joined the Kingsway staff in 2000. He is a huge fan of Ohio State and Colts football. Mark has been a contestant on The Price Is Right.


Jeff Shields (ext. 213)

Discipleship Pastor

Jeff loves to read, hike, listen to music and hang out with others. He especially enjoys time with his wife and his two daughters. And he is always ready for a good cup of coffee. Jeff joined the staff in 2005 after serving for several years as a principal at Kingsway Christian School. Jeff proposed to his wife, Krista, in her first grade classroom at KCS.


Paul Smith (ext. 203)

Congregational Care Pastor

Paul is a self-proclaimed neat freak in a cluttered world. He joined Kingsway's staff in 2005. Married to Marilyn, Paul moved to Avon after serving as president of Christ In Youth in Joplin, Missouri. Paul’s hobbies include landscaping and bicycling.


Shawn Tully (ext. 202)

Evangelism Pastor

Shawn is the fourth cousin, once removed, of comedian Jeff Foxworthy.  He joined Kingsway's staff in 1999. He loves brewing the perfect pot of coffee (Starbucks Sumatra, whole-bean, freshly and finely ground, with Aqua Systems water and served in a ceramic mug). Shawn also enjoys fishing, hiking, kayaking, biking, and snow skiing.


Chris Ardeel (ext. 210)

Director of Information Technology

Chris, our Director of Information Technology, joined the Kingsway staff in 2007. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in atmospheric science. Chris enjoys travel, reading, volunteering on the audio team in worship ministry, and spending time with his family. 


Brenda Crooks (ext. 204)

Office/HR Manager

Brenda (and husband Lynn) have been members of Kingsway for over 30 years. In her spare time she enjoys quilting and shopping for fabrics and gadgets. These days there is not much time for hobbies as the Lynn and Brenda have recently enlarged their family by adopting two older children from China. Brenda came on staff in 2010.


Brad Deardorff (ext. 108)

Business Manager

Brad joined Kingsway's staff in 2007 and has been a member since 1999. He enjoys outdoor activities including softball and golf. He is a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and is a Chicago Bears fan living in Colts country. He is passionate about adoption and loves doing anything with his wife and four children.


Mike Lynch (ext. 104)

Facility Manager

Prior to coming to Kingsway in 2007, Mike was the Fire Marshal with the Avon Fire Department. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. Mike's family have been members at Kingsway since 2004.


Rodney Bucy

Building Mechanic

Following retirement from the US Army after 20 years of service, Rodney began serving in the maintenance department in 2006. His family have been actively involved at Kingsway since the early 90s. His hobbies include tinkering and maintenance; he can fix just about anything.


Diana Harris (ext. 117)

Bookkeeper

Diana joined the Kingsway staff in 2005. She is a fantasy NASCAR nut, finishing in second place in her league this year. She is a garage sale enthusiast and enjoys spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.


Greg June

Worship Technical Arts Assistant

Greg has been a member at Kingsway since 2006 and joined the staff in 2009. Greg is married to Marcia, who has been at Kingsway since 1995. Greg is the Worship Department's handyman. He works largely behind the scenes and can fix anything.


Sarah Kenworthy (ext. 115)

7th- Through 12th-Grade Ministry Assistant

Sarah joined the Kingsway staff in 2008. She enjoys going out on dates with her husband and spending time with friends. Her hobbies include diving into a good book and whipping up sweet desserts. Surprisingly, Sarah cannot ride a bike.


Jaclyn Moore

Nursery Coordinator

Jaclyn has a weakness for garage sales. She confesses that she has a hard time passing them up. Jaclyn joined the Kingsway staff in 2007. She enjoys playing with her kids, hanging out with friends and watching movies. Her family has been active at Kingsway since 2001.


Cheryl Newport (ext. 214)

Operations Ministry Assistant

Cheryl joined the staff at Kingsway in 2006. She enjoys card making, reading, playing the Wii, playing cards with friends and riding their motorcycle with her husband, Gary. Each month, the Newport family partakes in “Game Day” with children and grandchildren. Cheryl loves to laugh and have fun.


Sandi Owens (ext. 216)

Congregational Care/Discipleship Ministry Assistant

Sandi joined the Kingsway team in 2008. She is our Congregational Care and Discipleship Ministry Assistant. She enjoys reading, cooking, spending time with her family and their dog, and hiking. She and her husband, Tony, were married at Kingsway by Pastor John Caldwell.


Dee Pauley (ext. 211)

Worship Ministry Assistant

Our Worship Ministry Assistant, Dee, joined our team in 2005. Listening to music, playing board games with her family, scrap-booking, and exercising are all activities that Dee enjoys. She and her husband were married in Germany.


Lindsay Rode (ext. 101)

Receptionist

Lindsay joined our staff in 2006. She loves to spend time with her family. She is especially fond of shopping. She dislikes any activity that involves water due to the fact that she does not know how to swim and does not intend to learn.


Monica Shelton (ext. 113)

1st- Through 6th-Grade Ministry Assistant

Monica is our 1st - 6th Grade Ministry Assistant. She has been on staff at Kingsway since 2000. Her hobbies include spending time with her children. She loves to go see musicals and watching reruns on Nick at Nite.


Bobbette Sturgeon (ext. 120)

Facilities Ministry Assistant

Bobbette joined the Kingsway staff in 2005. She enjoys reading, sewing, shopping and playing with her children. She and her husband, Patrick, were married in Kingsway’s prayer chapel and they have been members at Kingsway since 2000.


Heather White (ext. 212)

Involvement/Evangelism Ministry Assistant

Heather joined the Kingsway staff in 2009. She enjoys watching movies, roller skating with her daughter, fishing, listening to music, playing card games and reading. Her daughter enjoys spooky stories and mysteries just like her mom.


Shirley Woolard (ext. 109)

Communications Coordinator

Shirley has served as Kingsway’s Graphic Coordinator since 1980. Her hobbies include watercolor, gardening and reading. When she and her husband moved to Indiana they were only planning to stay five years; they have been here over 40.


Scott Kenworthy (ext. 209)

Resident

Scott joined the Kingsway staff in 2010 and enjoys helping others discover both the breadth and depth of God's Word. As a Leadership Resident, you'll typically find him trailing Matt or Jeff, asking questions and blessing (pestering?) them with his constant presence. In his free time, Scott enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Sarah, going to the gym, and working on his Masters Degree from Cincinnati Christian University.

Jess Holiday (ext. 119)

5th- and 6th-Grade Intern

Jess joined our team in 2009 as the 5th- & 6th-Grade Ministry Intern. She enjoys running, laughing, playing with children, working with children's leaders and playing Play-doh with her little buddies Alden, Hallie, Braylon and Briggs.


Andrew Long (ext. 209)

High School Intern

Andrew grew up in Bloomington, but saw the light and became a Kentucky fan.  Other than rooting for Kentucky, he spends his time watching sports of any kind, watching movies, and hanging out with friends.


Emily Peters (ext. 114)

1st- through 4th-Grade Intern

Emily joined the Kingsway team in August 2010. She grew up in Syracuse, NY and is a huge Syracuse Orangemen fan. When she’s not cheering for the Orangemen or Dallas Cowboys, Emily enjoys playing sports, shopping, and hanging out with good friends. She is also proud of the fact that she spent her whole first semester at Johnson Bible College at the age of 17!
