Kingsway began in 1973 with nine families from the Chapel Rock Christian Church in Indianapolis. Seventy-two people attended the first service in the Avon High School gymnasium. In April 1974, John Caldwell came to Kingsway as its first senior pastor.

Since the completion of Kingsway’s first building in 1975, five additional phases have been completed on the now 70-acre campus.

Many new ministries have started over the years, including Kingsway Christian School, which began in the fall of 1977. This highly respected program, which includes preschool through eighth grade, currently has more than 600 students enrolled.

In the summer of 2009, Matt Nickoson answered the call to be Kingsway's second senior pastor.

We are as excited for our future as we are proud of our past. Times may change but one thing is certain: Kingsway is a place where God is honored.
